Itinerary

  • DAY 1 Arrive to the Hacienda – Get acquainted with the horses + Visit the Milking Barn and Aging Cheese Cave (Riding time 4 hours).
  • DAY 2 Isinlivi - Ride along ancient mule tracks south of the Ilinizas Volcanoes (Riding time 4 to 5 hours).
  • DAY 3 Sigchos - Ride along the spectacular Toachi Canyon. (Riding time 4 to 5 hours).
  • DAY 4 Chugchilan - Ascend to the edge of the mountain range + Stop by at one of the artisanal cheese factories + Visit Chugchilan village (Riding time 4 to 5 hours).
  • DAY 5 Quilotoa - Ascend to the edge of the volcano, ride for an hour and a half following the path + walk towards the edge of the crater and explore the lake. (Riding time 4 hours).
  • DAY 6 Tour ends - After breakfast and a visit to the viewpoint of the lagoon, we will be transferred by car back to Hacienda la Alegria (2.5 hours).

  • All the necessary equipment, including wool ponchos, rain ponchos and chaps, horse bag, and helmets
  • Accommodation in double/twin rooms
  • Bilingual guide (Spanish/English)

  • Your choice of wool protected saddles. You may also bring your own equipment.

About this itinerary

  • This tour can run with a minimum of 3 riders.
  • Be prepared for all weather: periods of intense equatorial sun, followed by chilly Andes’ winds or rain.
  • You will spend time at altitudes exceeding 11,000 feet (3900m), so it is important to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
