 Mini Responsible Traveler

This tour was designed specifically for travellers with an active interest in green eco-tourism who want to get closer to nature and local culture.

At Guamote we visit a tourism development program set in a small village in the heart of the beautiful Andean mountains to experience the typical rural lifestyle and to see firsthand the community school and handicrafts projects that have been successfully implemented there.

There are also some great activities to enjoy – horse-riding in the surrounding countryside, trekking and enjoying the sunset from the Chimborazo Volcano (Ecuador’s largest), and a visit to the local Guamote indigenous market (only on Thursdays).

"I searched far and wide for exactly this type of tour with no success until I found Happy Gringo. I was not at all disappointed with the result – the community project is well setup and very deserving, the Andean setting is picture-perfect, and the activities were very enjoyable." (Anne Parcher, UK)
