The Devils Nose train in its day was one of the finest and most daring feats of engineering that the world had seen, and as you descend the switchbacks down a shear mountainside it is not difficult to see why! The railway originally connected the mountain region to the coast, and the most challenging obstacle in their path was the giant rock face known as the Devils Nose – the recently restored tracks here take you from Alausi at 3323 metres down to Sibambe at around 2500 metres.
A memorable 2day tour which also includes visits to Cotopaxi National Park and Baños plus a confortable night in a local hacienda.

| Day | Activities | Meals |
| 1 | Cotopaxi National Park - a spectacular day visiting one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. In the morning we visit the surrounding parkland and have time to explore the picturesque Limpiopungo Lake. In the afternoon we go up to the snowline volcano refuge and visit the glaciers. Leaving the national park mid-afternoon we head further south passing down the valley of the volcanoes to Riobamba and our overnight destination at Abraspungo Hacienda. On a clear day you will enjoy views of the snow-capped peak of Ecuador’s highest peak – Chimborazo at 6300m. |

| 2 | Devils nose train – an early start is required to head south to Alausi station, our boarding point for the famed Devils Nose Train. The total descent is around 800 metres to the small station of Sibambe in the valley below. Free time and a snack are included until it is time to board the train again and head back up to Alausi to meet your driver. Heading back north you will visit the town of Baños on route back to Quito – time permitting a lunch stop and brief visit to the waterfalls (or stroll around town if you prefer) should be possible before your final journey back to Quito where the tour ends. |
