Pristine National Parks on Ecuador’s coast

Ecuador’s Pacific coastline combines beautiful beaches with national parks teaming with wildlife and interesting ruins that give an insight into past cultures. This minitour gives an exciting flavour of all these highlights and of course includes plenty of freetime to relax and top-up your tan!

During July and August you can enjoy the added bonus of watching the rituals of the humpback whales during mating season.

ITINERARY
Day	Activities	Meals
1	Manta & Montecristi – An early flight takes you from Quito to Manta on the Ecuadorian coast. On arrival your first visit will be to the town of Montecristi famous as the birthplace of the Panama Hat – here you can learn more about the hat-weaving process. After lunch we visit the archeological museum at Salango before arrival to our comfortable lodge close to Puerto Lopez.	LD
2	Isla de la plata – A full day exploring Isla de la plata. The island is famous for the legend of Sir Francis Drake who is said to have left buried treasure here. Today it is often compared to the Galapagos Islands and is visited for the wealth of wildlife that inhabits the island and reefs. The day includes trekking with a naturalist guide, wildlife observation and snorkeling – in July / August you also stand an excellent chance of spotting humpback whales too! Overnight at lodge.	BLD
3	Machalilla National Park – In the morning we visit the tiny community of Agua Blanca to see the interesting ruins of the Salangome Chiefdom. The afternoon takes us to the gorgeous beaches and rocky cliffs of Los Frailes. Overnight at lodge.	BLD
4	Tropical forest & Return to Quito – In the morning we have time to visit the tropical forest of Rio Ayampe before lunch and our return journey to Quito via Manta.	BL
