The Cotococha Lodge tour is the most easily and quickly accessible rainforest option from Quito and therefore perfect for a quick get-away or gentle introduction to the rainforest. The lodge itself has been popular with our past clients for it's romantic style and superb food / service, and the activities are the best on offer in the Tena area.
The Cotococha Amazon tour is best suited to travellers who are too limited for time to visit areas deeper within the rainforest (such as Cuyabeno or Coca), or who seek a little more comfort in their rainforest experience.

ITINERARIES |
Itineraries are flexible to start on any day of the week.
Day 1 |
Arrival at the lodge in the afternoon (optional arrival time). Free time to relax at the beautiful lodge and enjoy the surrounding garden full of jungle plants and flowers. A delicious dinner will be served in a romantic candlelight setting at the attractively decorated restaurant. Afterwards you can enjoy a special welcome drink whilst relaxing around the elegant fireplace and experience the night sounds of the Amazon jungle. |
Day 2 |
After breakfast we depart by canoe upstream for a jungle walk exploring the secondary forest's diverse flora and fauna. The hike takes us to the breathtaking Las Latas waterfall where we have time for a refreshing swim in the clear crystal waters and enjoy the surrounding views. River tubing back to the lodge where lunch awaits. An exciting walk in the primary forest to find secret wonders of teh mysterious hidden jungle. Your native guide will help you to understand more about the rainforest ecosystem and medicinal properties of the plants that we discover. |
Day 3 |
After breakfast we prepare for our return trip. End of program. |

Day 2 |
After an early breakfast we journey downstream by canoe along the Napo river to Misahualli where we make a short stop to register our papers with the local marina (don't forget to bring your passport). Visit to the animal resuce centre (AMAZOONICA) which is specialised in the rescue of wild animals in danger for species conservation and reintegration into the wild. Here we can observe a great variety of species such: toucans, colourful parrots/macaws, monkeys, ocelots, capybaras and much more! A delicious lunch on the river shore and chance to swim or relax. Afternoon visit to a Quichua family to learn about their culture and traditions such as gold panning on the river shoreline, traditional pottery making, their typical drink "chicha" made out of yucca, and use of the serbatana (blowpipe for hunting). |

LODGE BACKGROUND
The Cotococha lodge offers 17 beautiful and spacious bungalows built to traditional architecture in harmony with the surrounding forest. All bungalows are equipped with private bathroom, hot showers and private veranda with hammock or reclining chair. At night the lodge becomes very romantic with candlelight, a cosy fireplace, open-air restaurant, and the night sounds of the jungle.

ACCESS/TRANSPORT
The lodge is located close to the town of Tena.
A 6-hour public bus ride from Quito (US$6), followed by a 20-minute pickup-truck taxi ride (approx $5 to 10) from Tena bus terminal to the lodge. Clients must organise transport themselves and will be greeted b ystaff upon arrival at the lodge.
